Meet at Starbucks in El Dorado Hills at 6:00 pm on Friday (7/23/04.) We’ll head up Hwy 50 to Strawberry and hit the Strawberry Pass Trail, setting up camp near the top. Those wanting to can head in later Friday evening, or catch us at camp Saturday morning. This is a moderately rated trail with 2 or 3 sections approaching difficult.
Saturday morning after packing up camp, we’ll finish the Strawberry Pass Trail (exiting at Caples Lake/Hwy 88.)
Those wanting to meet up with us Saturday morning can catch us at Red Lake (east end, just off Hwy 88) for an easy – but very scenic – trail drive over the pass towards the Blue Lakes. Anyone wanting to meet us for this portion be sure to let us know so we can confirm a time via cell phone (probably about 10:00 am.)
We’ll set up camp Saturday at Lost Lakes, a primitive but incredible spot north of the Blue Lakes. Great spot for kayaking or canoeing!
After setting up camp, those wanting to can drive the short distance and wheel the Deer Valley Trail, another moderately rated trail with a few difficult spots. Those choosing to relax can kayak, fish, hike, etc.
We’ll head back home on Sunday!
Bring food, camping equipment, bug repellant, fishing poles, kayaks, canoes, cameras, etc.
